Job Summary
- Develops, qualifies, and improves welding processes and procedures.
- Maintains records of procedure and performance qualifications.
- Provides training where needed to improve welder’s skills and abilities.
- Provides input and recommendations on welding equipment purchases and updates.
- Understands Lean manufacturing concepts and applies them to the weld shop.
- Provides producibility input in for product and for fixturing.
- Provide training and opportunities to the weld-engineering tech.
- Provide weld technical support as needed throughout Bermo Inc.
- Responsibility: Ensure that all welding processes and procedures used to produce weldments meet both the design requirements and the inspection requirements as specified on the drawing and in the associated manufacturing documents.
- Tasks: Qualify and maintain accurate records of qualification of all procedures for all parts.
- End Result: Provide auditable records of qualification for each customer and their parts. Est. time @ 50%.
- Tasks: Qualify and maintain accurate records of qualification of all procedures for all parts.
- Responsibility: Train and qualify hand welders, tack welders, robotic welders, spot welders and operators to the requirements of the welding specifications.
- Tasks: Provide training and testing of the hand welders, tack welders, robotic welders, spot welders and operators. These include visual inspection of welds, welding symbols. Provide instruction on the various weld processes such that the welders etc. produce quality welds in production
- End Result: All parts entering the shop floor are ready for successful production and final inspection. Est. time @ 35%.
- Responsibility: Perform producibility analysis on parts submitted for bids, for tool design and for production improvements.
- Tasks: Work with Technical Project Engineers and Estimators to insure successful product integration into the shop.
- End Result: Ensure that products being bid or being activated can be effectively produced in our facility. Est. time @ 5%.
- Responsibility: Team member on various lean improvement projects.
- Tasks: Actively involved in Lean events, internal audits, action items, and various engineering projects.
- End Result: Continual improvement of design and production processes. Est. time @ 10%.
- 2-year degree from an accredited school + 6 years of related manufacturing experience or
- 4-year degree from an accredited school + 2 years of related experience and/or training or
- Experience programming welding robotics (FANUC and MOTOMAN)
- Experience as a production welding engineer
- Experience as a production welder.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principals and tools.
