Sending CAD Files
Note: Please do not send self-extracting archives and
self-executable eDrawings. We quarantine all executable file attachments in
order to prevent viruses from entering our network.
Bermo has the capability to translate most commonly used CAD file formats,
but some types of files are easier to process given the current software and
hardware available at Bermo. Sending recommended file types improves the
efficiency of file transfer and translation.
- Parametric Technology Corporation PRO-E Wildfire
3.0
Note: Drawing files (.drw) and assembly files (.asm) must be
accompanied by all the required part files (.prt).
- Solidworks 2007 sp0
Note: Solidworks .SLDDRW drawing files must be accompanied with
all the .SLDPRT and .SLDASM files otherwise they have no 3D data. Please
do not send us Solidworks eDrawing executables. eDrawing executables
will be quarantined by our virus scanners on the mail servers. If you
must send eDrawings, please send the non-executable versions which
require Solidworks' eModelViewer to open.
- CADKEY 99
- AutoCad 2000
- ParaSolids
(ASCII or binary format, .x_t, .x_b).
- IGES/STEP
Note: Surface IGES (consists of surfaces instead of only lines
and arcs) is recommended. In addition to the STEP or IGES files, 2D
drawings such as TIF, HPGL, PDF or DXF files containing tolerance and
material information should be included. If 2D drawings are not
included, material and tolerance information should be emailed to datatransfer@bermo.com.
2D drawing formats such as TIF, HPGL, HPGL/2 and DXF
files may be used for quotation purposes provided that the 2D drawings
include all necessary information. However, 3D databases will expedite your
requests for quotation since we do not have to design rudimentary models for
calculating part mass, tonnage, material utilization, surface area, etc.
- Internet E-Mail (Strongly Recommended) for file attachments under
8Mb.
- FTP (No anonymous login) - Please email datatransfer@bermo.com
for account creation.
Note: Please email datatransfer@bermo.com after the FTP file
transfer so the data may be dealt with promptly.
- CD-R or DVD+/-R media - ISO9660 format
- Floppy Diskettes - 3.5" format
Whenever possible, each CAD file should be named with the appropriate part
number and revision. Please do not send engineering changes to Bermo without
changing the revision level of the design to avoid confusion.
For
prompt and precise handling of your CAD data, the following information
should be provided:
- A list of each part number and revision being sent
- The name of the Bermo salesperson or project manager associated
with the parts
- A brief description of what is to be done with the part files
(Requests for Quotation, Engineering Change Orders, etc.)
Any additional information is welcome and will be passed along
to the appropriate salespeople or project managers. Please compress the IGES
files with UNIX compress (if the customer has UNIX systems) or WINZIP / PKZIP
in order to reduce file transfer time.
